The holidays are upon us and in celebration of the season, Tribes of Midgard released a brand new game update for their smash hit MMORPG. In this interview with Yulidays CEO Julian Maroda, he discusses how updates like these keeps players engaged year round so that they can have fun even when not playing on the server.

The “tribes of midgard” is a game that was released in early December. The CEO, Julian Maroda, discusses the game and the Serpent Saga.

In Tribes of Midgard, you take on the role of a powerful Viking warrior defending their community against a horde of Helthings preparing to tear down The Seed of Yggdrasil. Season one of the game was The Wolf Saga, and season two will be The Snake Saga, in which players will have the opportunity to destroy Jörmungandr, the global serpent. During certain seasons, players may also take part in festive events, which add some seasonal effects, new challenges, and special prizes to the usual gameplay.

We spoke with Julian Maroda, the CEO of Tribes of Midgard’s development company, Norsfell, about how the team manages these limited-time holiday events, key features in the Serpent Saga, and how sagas will not cut off material for Tribes of Midgard players.

Tribes of Midgard’s first holiday event was Halloween, which isn’t normally associated with Vikings or Norse mythology. Despite this, Norsfell rose to the occasion and launched Valhalloween, scaring the population with a variety of Halloween-themed horrors. The crew improved upon a lot of what they learnt from Valhalloween with Yulidays.

“The good news is that people want more Midgard Tribes!” Julian was willing to share. “Rather than attempting to shake things up too much, we approached this event with a few essential features and prizes that the community loved, such as character cosmetics, a pet, town decorations, and festive upgrades,” says the developer. These festive improvements were introduced to the players’ home town and the foes they encounter around their environment, especially Goblins and Dökkálfar, now called as Snowblins and Yulálfars, respectively.

Bucky the Yule Goat was a remarkable piece of content that made it into this year’s Tribes of Midgard Yulidays. Julian stated, “We’ve never seen a present-bearing goat in any other game.” “I’m pleased he made it into our first Yulidays since it’s such a unique and charming design.”

While Yulidays does not significantly alter the entire game, the Season 2 Serpent Saga in Tribes of Midgard does. Players will be able to set sail on the high seas in famous Viking ships to uncover huge islands and locate rare treasure and opponents not found on the mainland.

“The Serpent Saga is going to dramatically revolutionize how you play Tribes of Midgard,” Julian said. “Boats provide you a new, speedier method to traverse Midgard in your quest to defeat the Saga Bosses.”

It was no simple effort to create a new biome that would surround players throughout their game. “It was logistically and technically tough to build a complete new biome and islands,” Julian said. “So many old game systems had to be modified, including navigation and map balance, and then there was a butterfly effect.” We also had to work around the difficulty of building boats that could accommodate numerous players at the same time.”

Vikings are known for their use of boats to traverse the seas in order to conquer and settle in new areas. It substantially reduces the amount of time it takes to travel across the map in Tribes of Midgard, particularly before finding the quick travel shrines.

“The boats you see in-game are based on genuine Viking longships, with each of the three building on that foundation,” Julian said. “With the shields down the sides, the bent bow, and the flattened form, the Drakkar, for example, appears like a typical Viking longboat you’d find in history books or museums.” Drakkar means Dragon, thus we drew inspiration for the design from the word.”

Many gamers may be wondering what will happen with the Wolf Saga or fighting Fenrir now that the Serpent Saga has been added. Even though the Serpent Saga will introduce the next Saga Boss, Fenrir will not be forgotten. Players may pick which Saga they wish to finish throughout their Tribes of Midgard playtime when a new season is introduced to the game. They have the option of doing the current one or any of the prior ones. The ancient material will not be eliminated from the game; rather, it will be included as a new expansive mechanism to explore and add to the layer of Tribes of Midgard. If they’re quick enough, some players may be able to accomplish numerous Sagas in a single game.

Yulidays will be accessible in Tribes of Midgard from December 14 to January 3, 2022, coinciding with the release of the Serpent Saga. The Serpent Saga will run through 2022, with further features planned for the future.
