The amd graphics cards list is a review of the SAPPHIRE PULSE Radeon RX 6600 GAMING video card.

Introduction

AMD is introducing their newest GPU in the Radeon RX 6000 series today. Today, this new video card completes the mainstream desktop gaming PC sector, making it more cheap and accessible to gamers. The new AMD Radeon RX 6600 graphics card graphics card rounds off the lineup with a video card that falls just short of the Radeon RX 6600 XT (Radeon RX 6600 XT). The Radeon RX 6600 lowers the pricing of the RDNA2 architecture to $329 SEP.

AMD has reached the sub-$400 sector with its Radeon RX 6600 series GPUs, as we witnessed when the Radeon RX 6600 XT debuted in September, only a month ago. The Radeon RX 6600 XT, which we evaluated here, is at the top of the line. Both the Radeon RX 6600 XT and the Radeon RX 6600 use the latest NAVI 23 GPU. The RX 6600 XT is labeled NAVI 23 XT, whereas the RX 6600 is just labeled NAVI 23. As you would expect, the Radeon RX 6600 is a scaled-down version of the Radeon RX 6600 XT, having less features in order to reach the $329 price tag vs $379 for the RX 6600 XT.

AMD Radeon RX 6600

Let’s have a look at what the Radeon RX 6600 is and how it compares to the RX 6600 XT and the previous-generation counterpart in terms of specs. To begin with, keep in mind that AMD is marketing the Radeon RX 6600 as an entry-level 1080p gaming video card. It still has compatibility for AMD Smart Access Memory, AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution, and other Radeon 6000 series technologies. It has the same RDNA2 architecture as the original.

According to AMD’s graphs, the Radeon RX 6600 should outperform the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 and AMD’s Radeon RX 5600 XT (Radeon RX 5600 XT) from the previous generation in games. When it first came out, the video card had an MSRP of $279. At 1080p, AMD claims high FPS in the year’s most popular games. The two video cards should exchange blows when compared to the GeForce RTX 3060 (which also has a $329 MSRP).

One of the Radeon RX 6600’s benefits is its performance per watt. For the Wattage needed, it provides a great level of performance. When compared to the GeForce RTX 3060, AMD claims that its performance provides significant power savings. In fact, AMD claims that this video card is suitable with 450W power supplies, making it more affordable for low-cost computer setups.

The main difference between the RX 6600 and the Radeon RX 6600 XT is that the RX 6600 has 28 Compute Units and 32 Ray Accelerators, while the RX 6600 XT has 32. As a result, the RX 6600 has 1,792 Stream Processors vs 2,048 for the RX 6600 XT. The clock speed is also lower, with the RX 6600 running at 2044MHz/2491MHz vs 2359MHz/2589MHz for the RX 6600 XT. However, they both have the same amount of Infinity Cache, which is 32MB.

They also have the same amount of VRAM (eight gigabytes) and are of the same kind. They both have the same memory bus width, but the RAM speeds are different, with the RX 6600 running at 14GHz and the RX 6600 XT at 16GHz. As a result, the memory bandwidth differs between the RX 6600 and the RX 6600 XT, with the RX 6600 having 224GB/s and the RX 6600 XT having 256GB/s. They’re both PCIe 4.0 x8 capable. Naturally, this has an impact on the Board Power, which on the RX 6600 is 132W and on the RX 6600 XT is 160W.

The Radeon RX 6600 is built on the RDNA2 architecture, unlike the previous generation Radeon RX 5600 XT, which was based on the RDNA architecture. The Radeon RX 6600, on the other hand, includes Ray Accelerators enabling hardware-based Ray-Tracing capabilities, while the Radeon RX 5600 XT does not. The Radeon RX 6600 actually has less Compute Units and Streaming Processors than the Radeon RX 5600 XT. In reality, the Radeon RX 5600 XT has more streaming processors than the Radeon RX 6600 XT, but the architecture is obviously different. The clock speeds are also significantly different; RDNA is unable to match RDNA2’s clock rates. Infinity Cache is also absent from the Radeon RX 5600 XT.

Another significant change is that the Radeon RX 5600 XT had a limited 6GB VRAM capacity, while the Radeon RX 6600 now has 8GB. The Radeon RX 6600 has reduced memory bandwidth and bus width, but it features Infinity Cache to make up for it. The Radeon RX 5600 XT, for example, can operate at PCIe 4.0 x16, while the Radeon RX 6600 and RX 6600 XT can only run at PCIe 4.0 x8. The Radeon RX 6600 has a lower board power of 132W, while the Radeon RX 5600 XT has a higher board power of 150W.

There are various changes when compared to the competition, which in this instance is the GeForce RTX 3060, which has the same MSRP of $329. There is a difference in VRAM between the GeForce RTX 3060 and the Radeon RX 6600, with the GeForce RTX 3060 having 12GB against the Radeon RX 6600’s 8GB. Another difference is the TDP, which AMD said. The GeForce RTX 3060 has a TDP/TBP of 170W, compared to the Radeon RX 6600’s 132W Board Power. That’s a significant improvement, even when compared to the Radeon RX 6600 XT. The GeForce RTX 3060, for example, can operate at PCIe 4.0 x16, while the RX 6600 and 6600 XT can only run at x8. Though AMD GPUs include AMD Smart Access Memory, and the GeForce RTX 3060 has Resizable BAR. This is enabled for all cards in all of our testing.

AMD gave us a SAPPHIRE PULSE Radeon RX 6600 GAMING 8GB GDDR6 HDMI/TRIPLE DP retail boxed video card for evaluation since this is a board partner launch. The SAPPHIRE PULSE Radeon RX 6600 GAMING video card is based on the Radeon RX 6600 GPU and is tiny and compact. Although not all Radeon RX 6600s will be as small, this card demonstrates that they can be. Heatsinks will come in a variety of sizes, depending on the manufacturer. This one is a tiny video card that should fit into almost any case.

While this video card is a custom board from SAPPHIRE, it does not have a factory overclock on the PCB or the heatsink/fan. This one runs at the AMD standard frequency of 2044MHz/2491MHz, meaning it’s the stock clock speeds with no factory overclocking. It does have bespoke cooling, which will impact the dynamic clocks, and in this review, we’ll look at what it really operates at and overclock it.

As you can see, the SAPPHIRE PULSE Radeon RX 6600 GAMING has two big fans on the shroud, which is a dual-fan setup. Since you can see, they seem to have a unique fan blade design, as the fan blades are linked. The video card has a complete backplate, which increases stability and keeps it well protected while still looking nice. It is properly ventilated throughout, so heat will not be trapped under it.

The front of the video card’s metal heatsink seems to extend beyond the length of the PCB, allowing air to flow through both sides of the heatsink and into the card’s back. Unfortunately, this video card does not support dual-BIOS.

An 8-pin power connection is required for this video card, however this seems to be overkill for the video card. It will, at the very least, offer steady power for overclocking. It features three DisplayPort 1.4 connectors with DSC and one HDMI port. The video card is just 7.6” long, 4′′ broad, and 1.5′′ tall, making it an extremely small video card that should fit in almost any case.
