The hots patch notes are a compilation of all the changes that have been made to the game in the past week. It is important to note that intrinsically, QM is likely to have worse comps than draft.
TL;DR: QM will always struggle to generate fair comparisons for a variety of reasons.
People that play QM are:
- because they wish to portray a certain character
- because it is a faster queue/game start
- They want to trample on pre-mades because they want to stomp on them (of various sizes)
- because they are afraid of being ranked
However, consider the following:
- By definition, securing one particular hero inside the comp reduces the number of comp choices. Broad criteria must be applied that encompass billions of potential permutations while allowing for non-traditional comps like as double heal, triple bruiser, no-heal, dive comps, sustain comps, and so on. Furthermore, winrates are always changing, comp needs for certain rankings are significantly different, weekends are vastly different from weekdays, and so on, resulting in lower comps. Popular heroes will also be chosen more often (by definition), making favorable matches even more difficult to come by. As a result, fewer perfect comps are created. Is it better to wait till there’s a tank, bruiser, healer, or mage dps, for example? So, should Blizzard prioritize one meta-comp over another? Do you want to play a game of valla? We can’t promise you a healer since nailing the most popular job implies fewer matchup choices. or a tank or anything else that has a synergistic effect.
- With a quicker start, there is less time to identify superior matches. Should Blizzard increase time to the wait so that better comps can be enforced? Then a fast match becomes a not-so-quick match. Do you want to lock valla in? You’ll get in front of the line faster, but we can’t promise you’ll receive a healer. or a tank or anything else that has a synergistic effect.
- As a result, the opposing team will nearly always be at a disadvantage in terms of comps, since the pre-made comps will almost always have some kind of synergy that more randomly assigned comps would not. Do you want to play a game of ktz? Sure, we can provide you a healer, but there’s no guarantee you won’t be up against zeratul/diablo/leoric (insert your favorite 3-man stomp comp here) – or that you won’t have to wait for another 3-1-1 comp that follows QM rules.

Add in unique characters, heroes with no real effective counters, a meta that is always changing, people learning new heroes, and experimental pre-mades…
It’s insane to anticipate a perfectly balanced QM experience all of the time. Yes, we’d want everything to be perfect, but the reality is that mobas are based around a draft, which enables five (human) players to put together a team that fits them and performs well against the (human-made) opponent draft. Humans are better at this than broad rules. Play QM if you want, but be aware that there will be a lot of sub-optimal compositions. Instead of complaining about it, appreciate it for what it is. You don’t like the competitions? Play a draft game.
