Marvel and Disney have joined forces to release their first-ever show, featuring all the newest project for Marvel Studios. Geeks + Gamers will be able to watch this exclusive event on May 22nd at 11 am PST.

Disney+ has released a new Marvel show case. The showcase includes five games that are based on the Marvel universe.

Marvel Showcase on Disney+ Day

Television

Disney+ Day brought a slew of Marvel news – or, in most instances, re-brought news, since the majority of these projects had already been announced. One huge surprise was the announcement of the comeback of a beloved 90s series, but whether this is good or bad news will depend on how true Disney and Marvel are to the show’s beginnings. If you’re interested, the streaming service offers a 14-minute movie on the Marvel events, although more than half of it is a rehash of previously-released series; the new material can be seen below, apart from the Hawkeye footage.

X-Men ‘97

If you’re as elderly as I am, I suggest BioFreeze for aches and pains, but you’re also likely a fan of Fox’s X-Men animated series from the 1990s. It was entertaining, action-packed, serialized, and substantially loyal to Marvel’s Merry Mutants’ comic book beginnings, especially in spirit. Disney is bringing it back in the form of X-Men ’97. The title, which refers to the show’s conclusion in 1997, is a strong indication that the revival would be faithful to the original episodes from the 1990s. Jennifer Hale, Anniwaa Buachie, Ray Chase, Matthew Waterson, JP Karliak, Holly Chou, Jeff Bennett, and AJ LoCascio are among the new cast members announced by The Wrap. In 2023, X-Men ’97 will be released.

It’s difficult not to get enthusiastic, but I have to remember myself that contemporary Disney is in control and keep my expectations in check. I’m happy so many folks from the first series are returning to consult or appear; Larry Houston’s participation, in particular, implies that they intend to maintain the art style the same, if not identical. Outside of one episode of The Witcher and the CW’s The Originals, Beau Demayo has absolutely nothing to his name; this isn’t to say he’s horrible, but there’s nothing by which to measure his skill. Jake Castorena, on the other hand, has done a lot of animation in recent years, largely with DC Comics characters, oddly. Charely Feldman’s work is unfamiliar to me, however she has written for The Owl House, which seems to be popular. I’m hoping this is better than anything else Disney has planned for its streaming service, and the components seem to be mainly excellent, but it would be crazy not to be cautious.

Moon Knight is a fictional character who appears in the

I’m not as thrilled about this as many Marvel fans are, and it’s primarily due to my lack of familiarity with the character. From that standpoint, the little material Disney has released so far makes it difficult to form strong opinions. Oscar Isaac is a fantastic actor, and I’ll definitely watch it whenever it’s out, but it doesn’t do much for me right now.

She-Hulk

This spin-off (can we call it that?) doesn’t either. I’m delighted they chose with Tatiana Maslany, a fascinating character actor rather than a huge name. But, once again, the film reveals absolutely nothing other than more Smart Hulk (… fantastic…), so She-Hulk hasn’t piqued my interest yet.

Mr. Marvel is a fictional character created by Marvel Comics

I was also undecided about this one, but the teaser really turned me off. Of course, just when we thought Marvel was going back to being fun, they had to put race back into the picture. Is Disney/Marvel even trying to persuade us to enjoy these characters, or will they simply attempt to shame us into it from now on? Whatever the case may be, we can all look forward to seeing the first non-white superhero since the last non-white superhero.

What Would Happen If…? Season 2 is now available.

The second season of Marvel Studios’ animated Original Series What If…? will be available on @DisneyPlus shortly. #DisneyPlusDay pic.twitter.com/TAt7oPIDjx

The first season was a mixed bag, with some unexpectedly good episodes sandwiched between mediocre and downright poor ones. Season 2 isn’t something I’m looking forward to; I believe this would have been better as a one-off limited series rather than a series that continues. How long will the novelty of the idea stay appealing?

Echo

I had to go online and search up the character. It seems dull, like a Daredevil copycat, but if they leverage the current Netflix Daredevil mythos to construct this, even a bad series will be valuable in establishing that wonderful show’s MCU validity.

Spider-First Man’s Year

If almost all of Spider-appearances Man’s in the MCU weren’t fundamentally like this, I believe this animated series — about Peter Parker’s early days as Spider-Man – may have been a fun concept. They’ve covered him concealing his secret identity from his buddies and Aunt May, and Tom Holland is already portraying a fairly youthful Peter. They could do some newish stuff, like watch him learn to utilize his abilities or develop his web-shooters, but he won’t be fighting any of his main foes until they mess with the continuity a lot. So he’ll be worshiping Iron Man from afar, which they need to get away from as soon as possible. It could be entertaining, but I’m not sure what the goal is.

Groot is my name.

November 12, 2021 — Marvel Studios (@MarvelStudios)

That’s OK, I suppose. Since Groot is hardly a character, I’m not sure how well he’ll function separate from the rest of the Guardians. He contributes effectively to the team, but how will he manage a show on his own? This smells like Disney is looking at merchandising opportunities.

Ironheart

November 12, 2021 — Marvel Studios (@MarvelStudios)

Is there a single person who is excited about this? What Would Happen If…? Already done a lot to devalue Tony Stark; replacing him with an adolescent girl – who you know will be established as smarter than he is, with much superior armor – can’t end good.

House of Harkness, Agatha

November 12, 2021 — Marvel Studios (@MarvelStudios)

On WandaVision, I adored Agatha Harkness. Katherine Hahn dug her teeth into the character with vigor, and she was an entertaining villain. But, like Groot, how will she be able to sustain a series? Is this going to be a series of flashbacks to her previous life as a witch? What difference does it make? Or will it pick off where WandaVision left off, with her escaping Wanda’s jail hex in under two seconds? This seems to be a horrible plan. But that music is stuck in my brain once again.

Marvel Zombies is a sequel to Marvel Zombies.

November 12, 2021 — Marvel Studios (@MarvelStudios)

I’m not a huge fan of zombies, so I’m not concerned. It was entertaining as a part of What If…?, but I don’t think it could be sustained as a series.

Invasion of the Unknown

#DisneyPlusDay pic.twitter.com/2Jjzw8Uz29 Marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion, an Original Series, is coming shortly to @DisneyPlus.

November 12, 2021 — Marvel Studios (@MarvelStudios)

If the MCU didn’t irreversibly botch up the Skrulls, I’d be all for it. The enemies will be a wicked Skrull sect, according to the extremely short description, hence “invasion” should be accompanied by an asterisk. The theory is intriguing, but who will become a Skrull given that almost all of the main Marvel figures have died? Is it a former intern from SHIELD? This is a chance that has been squandered.

Hawkeye

Remove one item off your holiday to-do list! This tweet will serve as a reminder when new episodes of Marvel Studios’ #Hawkeye premiere on @DisneyPlus every Wednesday beginning November 24. pic.twitter.com/EBCODApLNi

November 12, 2021 — Hawkeye (@hawkeyeofficial)

This is just another chance squandered. Hawkeye employing his archery talents against Earthbound bad guys – set at Christmas, no less – would have been amazing, but they’re spoiling it by having him teach his successor, who, so far, seems to be annoying. (This isn’t a knock on Hailee Steinfeld, who I like; she was robbed of an Oscar for portraying an incredible role at such an early age in favor of Melissa Leo, who portrayed a wacky caricature.) I’m a sucker for action sequences matched to Christmas music, and the pursuit sequence is well-filmed, so perhaps there will be some decent technique. But I’m upset that Clint Barton is being reintroduced just to be replaced.

That concludes Disney+ Day’s Marvel content. Overall, it’s a letdown, but I’m holding out hope for X-Men ’97 to be a success.

The “wolverine game ps5” is a new Marvel show that will be premiering on Disney+. Wolverine and the X-Men team up with Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, and Thor to take on Thanos.
