A pair of board games based on the Dr. Seuss classic, How The Grinch Stole Christmas, are coming to stores this year.

The upcoming funko pop 2021 is a pair of board games that are coming out from Funko. The game will come with the characters from How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

20th of October, 2021 – Funko is releasing two distinct How The Grinch Stole Christmas Board Games in the near future. Both the “Dr. Seuss Merry Grinchmas! Game” and the “Dr. Seuss Grow Your Heart Card Game” will be available in late October, just in time for the holidays. Both are now available for presale, with the former available exclusively at Target and the latter on Amazon.

The games are based on the holiday classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas, which was first shown on television in 1966. It’s a Wonderful Life, A Christmas Story, and A Charlie Brown Christmas are among the top Christmas favorites, and the short 26-minute cartoon picture has aired over and over every holiday season since.

GROW YOUR HEART CARD GAME WITH DR. SEUSS

In Who-ville, it’s Christmas! Which accoutrements will you select? The Grinch has taken the gifts, the feast, and even the Christmas tree! The Grinch’s heart expands three sizes when the Whos rejoice nonetheless. Assume the roles of the Whos and the Grinch. Draw cards to choose which Christmas treats should be kept. The Grinch steals cards to increase his score, but his heart expands with each round! To earn the maximum points, collect sets and then score your cards!

Ages 6+, 3-6 Players, 30-minute playtime, MSRP $6.99

This game joins their gift-wrapped Christmas classic collection, which they started around the same time last year. Elf, Gremlins, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Frosty the Snowman, and A Christmas Story are among the other games in this compact box card game collection. They’re all a little different, and they’re simply meant to be a quick and simple way to describe that specific characteristic. Something to do with friends or family to rekindle the sense of nostalgia and camaraderie that comes with the holidays. A card game based on How the Grinch Stole Christmas would be a fantastic addition to this collection.

There were a few additional board games based on The Grinch, but none of them were very popular. Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas Game: Movie Edition was released in 2000, The Grinch: Sing Your Heart Out! was released in 2007, and The Grinch Christmas Bingo Game was released in 2009. There were also a few film adaptations that did not live up to expectations. In 2000, Jim Carey starred in a live-action version, and Benedict Cumberbatch starred in a more modern computer-animated version in 2018.

In 2019, Funko released “Funkoverse,” a pop dolls board game, and has been actively expanding into board games since then. Their expertise has been leveraging their film and television licenses (as shown above), and the results have been positive so far. They offer board games based on The Goonies, Fast & Furious, ESPN, Groundhog Day, Disney Princesses, The Warriors, The Rocketeer, Five Nights at Freddy’s, and many more popular franchises.

Their Christmas collection seemed to be a hit last year, so the fact that they’re releasing more this year is a strong indication that more holiday favorites are on the way from the collectibles and entertainment business.
